Changing of the Guard

Kathleen HeuerThough I've really enjoyed my time as AMP's Social Media Manager, it's with a heavy heart that I announce my departure from AMP for new ventures.

I'll still be active in music ed & arts advocacy and marketing (although really, isn't advocacy and marketing one and the same?), and you can still follow my personal accounts on pretty much every social network ever created, and at kathleenheuer.com. So I'm really not "going" anywhere. 🙂 Keep an eye out for new stuff from me. #hinthint

The amazing, kind and talented Marc Whitt will step into my position with AMP on May 1st, and I couldn't be more excited about that. In addition to his longtime role as AMPassador, he's the associate vice president for public relations and chief communications officer at Eastern Kentucky University. A band dad three times over, he still plays trumpet with the Madison Community Band.

I'd like to thank Scott and Kris McCormick. Over the nearly 20 years I've known them, they've proven to be powerful and tireless advocates for music education. Scott has been a mentor and a friend, and has given me opportunities and memories I cherish. I would not be who I am today without him.

And of course, I thank you, gentle reader. Over the last two and a half years, you have been top of my mind nearly every waking moment as I created and curated all things music education, wondering if my efforts were worthy of your time. I hope the answer was, at least occasionally, "Yes."

This isn't goodbye. It's more like, "I'll be over here if you need me."

I'll leave you with a few of my greatest hits:

  1. There is no one who will miss Kathleen more than me! Kathleen, YOU have been a God Send to Kris and I and have appreciated you and your efforts more than I can say in this post. As I have said to you for while now, your shoes are kinda big to fill! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all that you have done for AMP to get us started on solid ground. I am in your debt. And look forward to your continued contributions as an AMPassador!

  2. So sorry to hear that you are leaving AMP, but also excited for your new adventures. Thank you for all your support for my site as well. Good luck and keep in touch….
